Early this year the foundation established the DASCFT Development Initiative. Under this initiative we hope to deepen our commitment to working with the visually impaired in pursuing their higher education.
We currently have a talking library that allows students with visual impairment easy access to audio coursework. This helps them excel in their subject areas, meet their educational requirements, and increases their chances of better job opportunities to lead them to a path of self-sufficiency.
Visual Impairment Program: The Talking Library for the Visually Impaired is set up to cater to the educational needs of people with visual impairment. We provide a free membership that allows students to borrow audio materials as per their requirement. This includes college curriculum, materials for competitive exams, news and so on.
We are a part of the daisy forum of India www.daisyindia.org
As part of the partnership with Daisy forum of India, on september 14, 2011 DASCFT converted the recording process of the talking library to the Digital Access Information System (DAISY). This format allows the library to create audio books with a uniquely accessible navigational system ideal for providing education to all print disabled students.
The aim of the talking library initiative is to provide the full range of materials in DAISY format, making the syllabi easily accessible to all print disabled students, with which they will be able to excel in their endeavor for higher education and find employment.
DASCFT Digital Talking Library is the first of it's kind in Chandigarh, UT
Health Education Program: The purpose of our program is to provide health education around the city of Chandigarh. Under this program we also intend to set up health and eye camps through which we hope to better inform women, children and the youth about their health and focus on preventative care.
* We are always in need for english, hindi and punjabi readers for our talking library.
